Snow Days and Dogs

Daisy

It’s been an interesting winter. The amount of snow certainly has made taking the dog for a walk a challenge. I sink down in it past my knees and the dog has had to bunny hop through it. It’s curtailed our winter walking for sure. However, most dogs love the snow and my dog is no exception. He loves to run and bury his ball in it, then dig it back up. My friend Lori’s dog, Phinneaus built himself a snow tunnel in his backyard recently. I love taking photos of dogs in the snow. I often find clients want to wait and books sessions in the spring, but this is a great time of the year to get great photos too. I was super excited to have a winter booking the day after Christmas, but unfortunately there was a little too much snow that day – yes it was the blizzard of Christmas weekend.

My pup

One of the wonderful aspects of winter photography are the beautiful skies. They seem to take on either a soft pastel combination of pinks and blues or the startling brilliance of bright blue.

Sebastian

Not only do the big guys like snow, even this little Chihuahua-Pekinese pup enjoys his first experience of a romp in the snow.

Bosco

I was a guest at a very exclusive Valentine’s party last week. Yes, a party for the pups at Stone Dog Inn. Special treats were provided by Pawsmopolitan, including some very tasty looking cupcakes. All the dogs had a fabulous time romping and playing with each other through the snow. And of course the treats were a big hit. While I was there, I took some fun snow photos.

Dunkin

Dunkin takes a breather after a rambunctious ball playing session with his buddies.

Dakota

Three month old, St Bernard Dakota is in her element.
